Principal

Mrs. Christy Mims

Mrs. Christy Mims is proud to serve as the Principal of Jemison Middle School, where she is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all students. With over 27 years of experience in education, Mrs. Mims has worked as a classroom teacher, instructional leader, and assistant principal before stepping into her current leadership role.

Mrs. Mims holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and is passionate about building strong relationships with students, families, and staff. Mrs. Mims believes that middle school is a critical time in a child’s development and is dedicated to supporting students both academically and socially.

Outside of school, Mrs. Mims enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She is excited to continue partnering with the school community to help every student reach their full potential.

Assistant Principal

Mr. Scott Ellison

Scott Ellison is a lifelong resident of Jemison and a graduate of JHS class of 1997.  Coach Ellison received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and has a Masters in Education and a Masters in Instructional Leadership, all from the University of Montevallo.   He is married to Alex Ellison, also a lifelong resident and JHS Alumnus.  They have been married for 18 years and have two children, Dylan, a Freshman at JHS this year and Alivia, a student at JIS.  Coach Ellison began his teaching career at JMS in 2004, since then he has served as a classroom teacher, coached all three boys' sports, and served as Vice Principal.
